One of the best parts of summer recess is the sudden absence of adult supervision. It’s less likely someone older is around ensuring that your bedroom door stays open or scolding you to “get to class.” There are places to sneak away to that the colder months don’t allow and no such thing as a school night that forces you to end your evenings early. These new circumstances won’t change things for everyone, but the extra freedom and opportunity might lead to extra fooling around.

East Los High is back! Season 2 premieres TODAY on Hulu and we are so excited. To celebrate, we gave sneak peek copies of the first episode to two members of our Youth Leadership Team and asked them to tell us what they thought.

Not wanting to talk about sex with your parents is a self-fulfilling prophecy…we think it’s impossible and awkward and unnecessary, and so it becomes impossible and awkward, even if it is necessary.

So you think you want to break up with your significant other. I’m sure there were reasons that led you to this. Maybe their breath smelled. Maybe they always said YOLO. Whatever the reason may be, your mind is made up. But. You have to consider how you tell them. If you say these things, you may get slapped or have an overly dramatic and embarrassing situation weeks later.*

If you listen to what TV, movies, and music tells you about relationships it all sounds pretty fake.  There’s either the couple who is super in love and is perfect, or there’s more drama than there is relationship. But if you’ve ever been in a stable relationship (and good for you if you have), you’ll know that it’s somewhere in the middle, hopefully closer to a perfect relationship than the drama. 

Ohhh… the winter time. Such a beautiful time of the year! It’s especially beautiful if you have a special someone to share it with! A date doesn’t have to be the boring, cliché “dinner and a movie.” I know if you have that special someone, you want to be different. Right? Well there are A LOT of things that you can do. 

Sex and the City. We’ve all heard of it, watched it, or even talked about it in some capacity. It follows the lives of a few fabulous women making their way in sex, love, fashion, and friendship in NYC. Though its run on TV has ended, their origin tale is still in production on The Carrie Diaries, which follows the unique story of Carrie Bradshaw upon her introduction to city life.
