East Los High: Bang the Virgin
Like we’ve talked about before, one second could change your life forever. One decision, one move, one piece of news, one whole new life to deal with. A few of the teens have their lives turned upside down when they receive some disturbing news and others make decisions that could change their lives forever.
Maya is freaking out after every time she hears a phone ring because she’s convinced it’s Ramon, the man who is on the hunt for her. When Jessie’s phone rings, Maya freaks out and demands that she doesn’t answer it. Jessie doesn’t listen and picks up. It’s the hospital calling about her mom who has been admitted. Freaking out, both Jessie and Maya rush to the hospital to meet her. The girls learn that Jessie’s mom has breast cancer and it has unfortunately spread to her lungs because she refuses to get surgery so she can continue working. Both Jessie and Maya vow to be there to support her and help her on the path to recovery.
With Cristian as the new dance coach for the Bomb Squad, he is pushing the team to be their best, which eventually leads him to kick Jessie off the team. She tells everyone that she quit to help her mom instead of telling them the truth. However, when Cristian begs Jessie to come back to the team (only so he has a way to have sex with her), she agrees but warns him she won’t be able to make it to every practice. Cristian offers private, one-on-one lessons for her. Is this the perfect way Jessie can balance Bomb Squad and caring for her mom? Or is it just a way for Cristian to get with her and then land himself a spot as a dancer on Vanessa’s father’s tour. We will see what happens!
Ceci is another character who receives shocking news in this episode. After feeling nauseous at Bomb Squad practice, she runs to the bathroom to throw up. Oh, Ceci. She isn’t just experiencing a bad hangover again like Cristian accuses her of, she is pregnant. Almost 30% of girls will be pregnant by the time they are 20. Avoid becoming a statistic and get smart about waiting and the different methods of birth control out there.
We also see Vanessa make a poor decision in this episode that could bite her in the butt later on. While backstage of the TV dance competition “Dance Five”, Vanessa keeps her eye on the host Freddie, whom, from what we see, is someone she already knows. The two end up having sex in the dressing room. Vanessa stops him and asks if he’s going to “bag it,” insinuating he should use protection and wear a condom (good job Vanessa!). However, he talks her out of using one. YIKES! Vanessa gets the Bomb Squad an opportunity to perform on the show, but will this bad decision affect her later on?
