East Los High: She Dumped you. Move on!
I can’t stop shaking my head at Maya. We can see she isn’t going down a successful path anymore. But her days at the club aren’t just affecting her. Here is what happened on this episode of East Los High.
The waitress position isn’t what Maya expected it to be. At the restaurant, people weren’t touching her inappropriately. But here, it’s a completely different story. The club’s bartender offers Maya a ride home after her first night of working and when he discovers she has no place to go, he allows her to stay with him. It doesn’t end there, of course. The next time she is at work, she transforms into a dancer instead of a waitress. Maya again results back to her old ways of drinking and drugs. And even though this is not the best way to make money, Maya is able to send some home to Lupe and Jessie.
Back at school, everyone is preparing for prom night. Jessie wishes she could go back in time and make better choices when it came to having sex. Soli tells her she has to stop thinking about what other people want her to do, and choose the option that she thinks is right. When the two go prom dress shopping with Ceci, we continue to see the struggles that Ceci is going through with Abe. He only visits her in the shelter for sex and does nothing to help prepare for their baby’s arrival.
Lupe’s health, unfortunately, continues to decline. As she goes in for her CT scan, the doctor discusses the different options that Jessie has with her pregnancy. The doctor explains that for certain options in California, you don’t need parental permission. This is a huge decision that Jessie is going to have to make.
Finally, as the kids prepare for the wedding of the year, Paulie seeks out a potential bachelor party location. He comes across a club in Hollywood. As he’s watching the performances, he realizes that Maya is one of the dancers! It seems like a light bulb went off in his head; Paulie decides to bring Jacob here. So after prom night, he brings Jacob to the club to see Maya and to finally get over his feelings for her. I can only imagine what happens next…let’s watch and see!
