Is it time to give it up? Is he the one? Is it what I want to do? These seem to be the questions that Jessie is trying to answer during this episode.

After planning a “study session” with Jacob on a Saturday night, the studying quickly turns into kissing when Jacob throws in a creative chemistry pick up line.  Jessie pushes Jacob away because she does not want to go any further, embarrassed to admit she is a virgin (which she should NOT be ashamed of).   Jacob says it is cool and he apologizes for losing control of himself.  He, in fact, does really like her, and respects her choices.  I don’t know about you guys, but that made me gain a lot of respect for Jacob!  Another thing that Jacob did that made me respect him was officially ending things with Vanessa.  Even though she is “the most popular girl in school,” he didn’t want anything to do with her because after he caught her cheating, it was clear that he didn’t mean anything to her.  

Later on in the episode, Soli and Jessie discuss the questions mentioned before.  Ultimately, does Jessie really want to have sex with Jacob?  Soli asks if she is just going to “give it up” because Jacob is the first guy that looked at her.  But Jessie says she really likes him and it felt good, but is still questioning what to do. Soli has her priorities straight. She wants to get her Journalism degree first before she starts having sex, even if the hottest guy offers, because she doesn’t want to worry about getting pregnant before she’s ready. She’s seen the women around her forced to rely on welfare and having a baby before she is financially stable is not something she’s willing to risk.

As we continue to see the relationship between Jessie and Jacob develop, I also have to note other things that are occurring in the episode that are probably going to have a large impact later on.  Maya is still out roaming the town selling drugs with this unknown guy and the two are shot at by a man in a car.  But we still don’t know why Jessie’s mom never told her that she had a cousin.  Vanessa figures out that Jessie was the one who actually recorded the sex tape, but didn’t Jessie’s phone go missing during the dance? Can’t wait to find out the answers to all of these questions!
