Healthy Relationships 101, Part 4

We're talking a lot this month about what makes up a bad or abusive relationship…but as important as it is to recognize a negative relationship, it's also really important to understand what makes up a healthy relationship. We asked members of our teen advisory group to help us define what things make up a healthy relationship and they took it a step further: they made awesome collages featuring images and words that make them think of love, trust, communication, and anything else that's key in a good relationship. Check out their pieces here and tell us what YOU think makes up a healthy relationship!

Karen, 17

"It shows that a good relationship should have love between each other. They should be legit to say that yeah they're together. A good relationship is two people attracted to each other no matter what gender. Everyone should be happy and say sweet things to each other. They should have fun and be free about what they feel and do."

Kendall, 16

"I focused on a few main things: I wanted to show that relationships should be simultaneously light and playful and serious. Each person should be independent and have each other's backs. There is a picture of a girl having fun with her soccer team, she doesn't need a boyfriend or girlfriend to be happy. She is not reliant on anyone, but she should be able to rely on whoever she is in a relationship with."

Sheila, 17

"Being able to share time together doing things they both love to do; showing that we can show love and care about each other without being overbearing or clingy; being able to talk about sexual needs or wants without being scared."
