Teen Mom Season 4: The Next Step
Ty gets a really disappointing call when Catelynn’s mom tells him that Butch broke the no contact order he had with her, beat her up, and is back in jail. Catelynn and Ty both go over to talk to April and she describes how Butch came over drunk and high, got jealous for no reason, and then hit her so hard that her head made a hole in the wall. Catelynn and Ty are really upset by the situation but are relieved that Carly is somewhere safe and doesn’t have to deal with the chaos involving their parents.
Did anyone else’s heart break when Ty read April that text Butch sent him? The final straw for April was when she heard that Butch said, “I do believe that I love cocaine more than anything or anyone.” What an awful thing for someone to say to their son. I have to say, after he mistreated April and the way he constantly disappoints Catelynn and Ty, I’m not sad to see Butch go to jail. I am glad that he inspired April to start going to AA meetings with her friend and apologize to Catelynn for not being there for her during her pregnancy and the adoption process.
Farrah has her first day of classes and decides to let Daniel meet Sophia. He seems to be totally ready to take on the responsibility of Farrah’s daughter and her dog. He even meets her mom over Skype. Looks like things are going well between the two of them. Farrah is even accompanying Daniel to Austin. If things get serious between these two, do you think Daniel would make a good father figure for Sophia?
Maci and Kyle are told that they have to move out of their current house so they decide to buy a house together. The two of them have already been living together but buying a house is a huge step, especially when you’re as young as they are. With some help from one of their friends’ moms, they find a house that they think will work with a little fixing up. Kyle is technically the one that is buying the house and Maci’s mom reminds her that if they break up, he can kick her out. They seem happy for the moment but perhaps they wouldn’t be quite so happy if they knew that Ryan had decided to file for joint custody of Bentley.
Amber is working on getting her GED and wishes that she had stayed in school. Parenthood is a leading cause of drop out among teen girls. In fact, only about half of teen mothers have their high school diploma. I bet Amber is wishing that she had been more mindful of her birth control or waited to have sex. It must be hard for her to focus on schoolwork with all the drama that’s going on in her life. Even after rehab, Amber and Gary are still having problems and haven’t spent much time together. She is frustrated that Gary won’t let her see Leah whenever she wants and even when he agrees, she is rude to him. Gary is really reluctant to let Amber see Leah. Do you think he’s protecting their daughter or using time with Leah as something to hold over Amber’s head?
All these moms were sexually active in high school. There’s a lot of pressure in high school to rush into things that you may not be ready for in your relationship. I mean everybody’s doing it, right? Wrong. The number of high school students who reported having sex is 46%. It may seem like everybody’s doing it but most people aren’t! No matter what age you are, having sex is an important decision that has to be made and planned out by two people. Relationships should be filled with romance, love, spontaneity and passion. But as much as you think with your heart, remember to also think with your head before you jump into bed.
